A rider standing on a galloping horse sheds several layers of costume piece by piece. The garments often differed greatly from a peasent’s rags to an aristocratic waistcoat. Circuses Following Ricketts’ Circus performers adapted and renamed this act but its basic components of a rider shedding garments remained.
